New York routing issues
New York – Re-routed
posted on October 15, 2009 10:58 pm UTC
At about 22:06:21 UTC we experienced a routing issue at our New york site. Users were temporarily routed to alternate facilities for approximately 10-15 minutes. We’re working with our upstream providers to determine the cause of the issue.
UPDATE: NTT communications is one of our main carriers and transit providers. They’ve suffered a very large scale outage in the vicinity of our New York facility. As a result, our packets were being dropped within their network on the way out to the rest of the internet. Soon as we identified this was the issue, we adjusted our routes to avoid their network entirely. From approximately 22:06:21 to 22:20:00 users that were being routed to our New York site experienced suboptimal performance.
We’re working on getting an official RFO (Reason for outage) from our carrier and will continue to post status updates here. The issue should be fuly resolved at this point but we are continuing to monitor the situation closely. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
